The Back2Back that was

By Bernard Yaw ASHIADEY
Dressed in a colourful pink and yellowish dress adorned with pink laces, the three women looked elegant on stage.
With voices that can sing any tune at anytime the Daughters of Glorious Jesus took centre stage at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) and for about two hours, the audience could not have enough of them.
Hit after hit was unleashed (praise and worship alike) onto a hungry audience who craved for more after two hours.
Performing on a stage well designed for mobility and state of the art lighting, the Daughters and their backing vocalist were at their very best. This event no wonder is termed the best curtain raiser for a new year.
Young Qwesi Oteng opened the show with songs from his 'Blessed Are They' and ‘The Mercy Project’ albums. His performance just paved the way for lovely Pastor Helen Yawson to continue.
The Evergreen Tagoe Sisters rocked the stage with hits from the 20th into de 21st century. Takoradi-based Pastor Joe Bechem kept the fire alive with some powerful tunes.
After delivering three hit praise tunes he delved into what is noted for, worship. The auditorium was filled with the spirit as he dished out more worship songs to take
the audience through the spirit before the Daughters came to the stage.
With over 23 years of song ministration it still doesn’t look like the women are looking at backing out anytime soon.
The energy, verve and enthusiasm with which they performed songs from the first to their tenth album were simply amazing.
There is no show without a great audience. The crowd were as lively as ever. They sang every song from beginning to the end alongside the Daughters. It is just an indication of how loved and cherished they are by lovers of gospel music.
In an interview after the show, Cynthia, the leader of the trio expressed her appreciation to the crowd for turning out in their numbers to enjoy their songs.
“It was great performing again. You could tell that the patrons enjoyed themselves so much. Since we had enough time to sing a lot of songs, the really had their money’s worth,” she said.
She added that they are not stopping anytime soon until God call them.”We are called to minister God’s words so until God himself calls us, we are just not stopping.”
She indicated that they are heading to the studio to record another album and come the first Sunday of 2014, it will be a bigger, better and massive Back2Back.
