Contemporary gospel musician, Joe Dee Owusu surprised
all and sundry when he picked up two nominations after the release of the
Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominations list.
Tipped for the collaboration of the year, the song, 'Se
Me Nya Kwa Daa', performed with veteran Amy Newman, instead got nominated for
Gospel Song of the Year with his album, 'Christian Life', getting nominated for
Gospel Album of the Year category.
The album, produced by Media Excel Production has eight
tracks which include, ‘Onso Nyame’, a mid tempo highlife; ‘Akwantu’, in full
praise and several others in worship and reggae rhythms.
Management is very hopeful that the artiste will pick
up these two awards come the 13th of April, the big day of the VGMA.
“Am hopeful that my song will win looking at the
inspiration attached to it and how people like it. I have come very far with
music career and am thankful to Almighty God and my management for all the
support and push given to this project.
“At a point there was no hope but God kept assuring all
of us that it will be well. We are hoping that Ghanaians will vote well and
push me to the bar to win these prestigious awards,” Joe Dee Owusu, said.
This brings to three the number of albums Joe Dee has
but a first when it comes to nominations at the VGMAs.
“We are confident that he will win the two awards
because the album is good and has performed so well under year in review,” CEO
of Media Excel, Ernest Kwesi Ennin said.
