Don Moen rocks at CDH’s 25th anniversary

By Bernard Yaw ASHIADEY
When financial powerhouse CDH Financial Holdings Limited launched its 25th anniversary celebration, there was no better personality to grace the occasion than American gospel musician and pastor, Don Moen, to help them thank God for 25 years of successful operation.
The Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) was the venue as the holding company and staff of its subsidiaries gathered alongside clients, well wishers and the general public to sing and shout praises unto the Lord, aptly led by Don Moen.
With song after song, it was all appreciation for what the Lord has done for the company -- which has seen some rough times but for the timely intervention of the Lord.
Interspersed with inspirational messages, the one-hour delivery can simply be described as splendid and magnificent. The auditorium was in a spiritual mood as he serenaded them with hit after hit.
The 62-year old multi-talented musician’s performance looked like that of a 30-year old. He was energetic, vibrant and even performed with children from CDH’s adopted orphanage, Village of Hope, from Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
In an interview with the B&FT Weekend, he said he was very happy coming back to Ghana to help celebrate the success story of the company.
“The Lord deserves praise and adoration for what he has done for CDH. I had a chat with the CEO and Board Chairman and what I heard was not something that could have kept a company afloat again. But for the timely intervention of the Lord, would not be here celebrating 25 years of success and hard work,” he said.
But it wasn’t only the legendary Don who sang to praise the Lord for what he has done for CDH, but two makeshift choirs from Village of Hope and CDH gave thanks to the Lord as well.
Chief Executive Officer of the company, Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee, said the reason for bringing down Don Moen was to thank God with the best in the gospel business.
“Twenty five years is no mean achievement in a business, so celebrating it with one of the biggest names in gospel music is just great.”
He added that the company has undertaken several socially responsible activities. “We undertook the Mamfe Water Project where we provided the community with boreholes and even linked the boreholes to vantage points in the community.
“The company is currently financing the construction of a GHC15,000 dormitory block for the Village of Hope College.”
Commenting on the rough times the company went through, the Group Board Chairman, Nicholas Vingirai, said the company has stood the test of time and is ready to grow bigger and better.
“Our company was dead in 2004 but with the intervention of God and good men, we are now on our feet again and expanding. We will be experiencing a new beginning and rediscoveries.”
